Artificial intelligence (AI) is driving discovery, innovation, and economic growth, with the potential to transform science and society. However, for AI to realize this transformative potential responsibly, research and development must prioritize fairness, accountability, transparency, and equity while protecting privacy, civil rights, and liberties.
In this lecture, Professor Manish Parashar will discuss the importance of democratizing AI research and development to ensure responsible AI. He will highlight the need for equitable access to data and advanced cyberinfrastructure, and examine current efforts in government and academia aimed at overcoming barriers to such access. Professor Parashar will also introduce the University of Utah's Responsible AI Initiative and the National Data Platform, which are part of a broader effort to build an open and inclusive data ecosystem.
