INESC Porto builds RoadMap for Brazilian National System Operator
The National System Operator (ONS) in Brazil has hired the Power Systems Unit (USE) at INESC Porto to develop a RoadMap based on wind power forecasting in Brazil.
22nd June 2011
The contract between INESC Porto and the ONS is part of the specialised technical consultancy services that accompany the project, “The development of a forecasting and generation model for energy from wind farms in the northeast region”, which is part of the ONS’s action plan and is being developed by the Federal University of Pernambuco UFPE/FADE.
Past contracts with the ONS and INESC Porto’s recognised experience in wind power forecasting were important factors that led to the creation of this contract.
In addition to the guidance in forming a RoadMap for Brazil and accompanying the project, the ONS is eager to speed up the development of wind power in Brazil.
The contract will last 18 months and began in May. Vladimiro Miranda, Mauro Rosa, Jean Sumaili, Joana Mendes and Marco Saran are all part of the project team.
