INESC Porto connects INESC Porto to Planetlab experimental platform

The team working on the Internet Architectures and Networking (IAN) area from the Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM) has recently connected INESC Porto to the Planetlab global experimental platform.

30th June 2008

Planetlab was established in 2003 and it currently has 460 sites consisting of 878 PCs that may be remotely controlled by Planetlab’s participants. This set the foundations for the experimental aspect of the American GENI platform (Global Environment for Network Innovations).

Planetlab is currently developing several technologies and services, such as distributed storage, peer-to-peer systems, research processing, mapping and network monitoring.

In the context of the “UTM Lab Meetings”, IAN carried out a clarification session on Planetlab and its use by INESC Porto on 24 July.
