INESC Porto defines dispatch system for Cape Verde

The Power Systems Unit (USE) of INESC Porto has recently concluded the first stage of studies regarding the integration of renewable sources of energy for the islands of Cape Verde.

12th November 2010

The purpose of the work, carried out for GesTo Energia of the Martifer group, is to analyze the impact of connecting several solar photovoltaic and wind parks in several islands of Cape Verde. The aim is also to analyze the safety of the operation, at the level of dynamic behaviour, considering the variations of the renewable resources and the specification and dimensioning of storage systems that may eventually be necessary. This way, it is possible to define a forecasting and dispatch system to be installed in the islands.

This work was developed by Carlos Moreira and Luís Seca from USE, with the participation of Paulo Monteiro, collaborator of the Information and Computer Graphics Systems Unit (USIG), in the definition of the dispatch system's communication architecture.
