INESC Porto LA provides tools to aid network reconfiguration in Brazil

The Power Systems Unit (USE) and the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (LIAAD) at INESC Porto LA will be taking part in project SIMULESP (Simulador Especialista de Tempo Real Para Apoio A Decisão), in collaboration with Eletropaulo (São Paulo, Brazil).

02nd May 2011

The contract, signed in January, will provide services for the UNISANTA (University of Santa Cecília, São Paulo, Brazil) who is responsible for the R&D project that will run for three years.

INESC Porto LA will develop a tool to support the reconfiguration of the sub-transmission network within SIMULESP. The tool will use advanced automatic learning techniques on continuous data flows and decision support and will be based on all of the information available on the network, including SCADA information obtained in real-time. This project will benefit from the operational network knowledge of USE and expertise in the areas of automatic learning and information handling from LIAAD.

Jorge Pereira from USE and João Gama from LIAAD will be leading this project.
