INESC Porto organises Colloquium on Wikis, Links and Social Software

Learning new analytical and dissemination methods for knowledge and information within an organisation in order to promote innovation, creativity and a better knowledge management were some of the main themes discussed at the colloquium "The New Knowledge Forge", organised by Ademar Aguiar (INESC Porto/FEUP) and Mark Bernstein (Eastgate Inc).

30th May 2008

The colloquium took place on 30 June at FEUP with the participation of some important researchers working on the area of social software and hypertext, such as George P. Landow (Brown University), Mark Bernstein (Eastgate), Stewart Mader (Atlassian) and Stuart A. Moulthrop (University of Baltimore).

Thus, this event was a prelude for the WikiSym 2008 conference that will take place for the first time in Portugal from 8 to 10 September. Gathering researchers, practitioners, writers and academics, the event’s main goal is to analyse and increase the wiki community. Here, these actors will join, discuss and share their knowledge and experience in all areas related to wikis, from social and technical areas, to basic and experimental studies.

It is important to remember that WikiSym is the main conference related to the research and practice of wikis, which are simple, open and collaboration systems that enable us to register and improve ideas and information.
