INESC Porto organises presentation of the SAPIR project

The Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit (UESP) presented the results of the SAPIR project (System to Support the Integrated Planning of Footwear Manufacturing Networks) in a public demonstration that took place at the AEROSOLES company in Esmoriz, on 26 June.

30th June 2008

SAPIR’s goal is to create a demonstrator for a system that will support the integrated planning of footwear manufacturing networks.

The system includes the communication and sharing of information that is relevant for the planning and execution control among all the actors within the network (planning, commercial sector, manufacturing units, subcontractors, suppliers), as well as the semiautomatic planning of the client’s orders, material orders, and manufacturing orders, taking into consideration the capacity of each manufacturing unit and the possible deviations from the plan’s execution.

The project was supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), by the Agência de Inovação and by the 6th R&D Framework Programme from the European Commission.
