INESC Porto starts working on COORDINATOR project
The Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit (UESP) started working on the COORDINATOR project. The intention with this project is to develop high performance hybrid algorithms to manage short-term power generation, taking into consideration thermal, water and wind resources.
15th November 2010
During the first stage, hybrid algorithms will be developed, incorporating heuristic techniques and exact algorithms to manage the production of thermal generators (Unit Commitment). The second stage will be dedicated to studying models that enable an integrated management of thermal and water resources. Lastly, alternative ways to model wind power systems and their integration in the water-thermal model will be studied.
The project has a 28-month duration and is led by Ana Viana (researcher at UESP). Jorge Pinho de Sousa (manager of UESP), Manuel Matos, (manager of the Power Systems Unit – USE) and Andrea Lodi (researcher at the University of Bologna, Italy), are also working on the project.
