INESC Porto supports Atlantic Area Transnational Programme

In the context of the Collaboration Protocol concluded with CCDR-N, the authority elected to manage the Atlantic Area Transnational Programme, which will take place between 2007-2013 including the 36 regions (NUTS II) with an Atlantic front in Portugal, Spain, France, United Kingdom and Ireland, INESC Porto has been cooperating in the development of a tool to support this Programme’s management. This project follows the previous Interreg III B Atlantic Area.

27th January 2009

This tool consists of a multilingual Collaborative Electronic Platform – in Portuguese, Spanish, French and English – and its main goals include the support to the Programme’s activities, particularly the Management Structure, Work Groups and Project Teams, as well as the development and dissemination of Project Ideas, and the establishment of partnerships.

At the same time, the intention is to support applications for Calls, enabling the reception, evaluation and selection of those applications, as well as the automatic creation of specific project areas, after the respective contracts are signed.

In conclusion, the platform will operate as the Programme’s institutional communication source, disseminating its goals and activities, namely approved projects, meetings, seminars, different documentation, relevant hyperlinks, news, activities and events, statistical information and studies.

This tool will be used through the Internet by people located in the several countries involved in the Programme, thus creating a truly distributed and multilingual work environment where the structure and contents of the several web pages (if translated) will appear in the language previously selected by each user’s browser.

There is also a technology transfer process currently being developed. Its aim is to provide CCDR-N with autonomy on the implementation of this kind of collaborative tools, considering the type of system use.

For more information on the system, go to http://atlanticarea.inescporto.pt/.

INESC Porto’s technical team is led by Paulo Melo from the Information and Communication Systems Unit (USIC), with the collaboration of the Management Information System (SIG).
