INESC Porto supports public discussion of the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon

In conjunction with the Business Informatics Service (SIG), INESC Porto’s Information and Computer Graphics Systems Unit (USIC) developed a collaborative platform to consult and analyse documents for the proposal for the alteration of the Regional Plan for Territory Planning in Lisbon (PROT-AML).

10th March 2011

The service was provided by the Regional Coordination and Development Commission for Lisbon and Vale de Tejo (CCDR-LVT) and was available online between 22nd November 2010 and 31st January 2011. During this period a total of 65 contributions were made and 57 of these were considered suitable for analysis.

The PROTAML team from CCDR-LVT explained that “the platform for public discussion was shown to be of great use because it allowed access to over twenty documents. Furthermore, the system was at the centre of the contributions and made it possible to statistically analyse the data”.

INESC Porto was involved in the creation of the collaborative platform and the later phases of public discussion on territory planning and urban development of the various parts of Portugal. The North, the Centre, the western Metropolitan Area of Lisbon and the Vale de Tejo all made use of this technology.

The technical team for this project will be led by Paulo Melo from USIG in collaboration with SIG.
