INESC Porto with projects approved in the area of Wireless and Mobile Networks

The area "Wireless and Mobile Networks" (WiMobNet) of the Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM) had seven of its projects approved recently, which will result in a 970 thousand Euro funding for INESC Porto.

The European project ALICANTE - MediA Ecosystem Deployment Through Ubiquitous Content-Aware Network Environments will develop a new concept to access multimedia contents that does not depend on the location of the users, including the direct transmission of contents between users.

The project SITME – Integrated Services for Metropolitan Transportations (QREN) will be developed together with XAREVISION and the Sociedade de Transportes Colectivos do Porto - STCP (Porto Bus Service), and its aim is to provide STCP buses with a new information and communication system.

The project SWIOP – Intelligent Web System to Support Personal Organization (QREN), requested by PortugalMail, aims to develop an email access system that is ubiquitous and safe, with an intuitive interface for the user.

The project AuditService 2.0 (QREN) was also approved. Requested by AuditMark, this project will develop a platform to monitor and audit http traffic.

Another project, the FlexNet (QREN), requested by Xarevision, aims at providing the Digital Signage in-store communication system of Xarevision with mechanisms that guarantee the system’s high availability in store environments with variable radio propagation contexts.

The project SHHC - Safe Home Health Care (FCT) will develop communications systems that are intelligent and resistant to interferences.

Lastly, the State of Pará (Brazil) requested the project ENREDO – Extension of the Network to support mobile communications. The aim with this project consists of developing a platform to authenticate and measure the high scalability traffic for mobile communication environments.
