INESC TEC creates tool that estimates the reliability of wind turbines

INESC TEC’s Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE) and Centre For Industrial Management and Engineering (CEGI) are developing a tool to estimate the reliability of wind turbines using advanced statistical models. The goal is to identify the factors that influence reliability.

03rd February 2015

The project started in early December 2014 and should be concluded in April 2015. By then, the tool, called WindRel, should start being used by EDP Renováveis, where it will support decision-making in terms of maintenance activities, such as choice of location and technology for the parks.

The researchers involved in this project are Bernardo Almada-Lobo, Armando Leitão, Hugo Simões and Luís Guimarães from CEGI, and Pedro Ribeiro from CESE.

The INESC TEC researchers mentioned in this article are associated with the following partner institutions: FEUP and INESC Porto.
