INESC TEC develops work for renewable energy company

INESC TEC’s Power Systems Unit (USE) has recently started providing consulting services to IBERWIND, which specialises in promoting, developing and exploring renewable energy projects, namely related to wind parks.

28th September 2012

After the entry into force of the new Regulation for the Distribution Grid (Number 596/2010, 30 July), because IBERWIND owns wind parks which have been working for several years, it was forced to comply with certain technical requirements which are fundamental to guaranteeing the safety of the distribution grid’s operation. And this is where USE comes in.

As part of this work, USE will conduct a technical and economic study in order to define solutions that may be used in order to guarantee that one of IBERWIND’s wind parks, with about 90 MW of power installed, complies with the regulation.

Located in Oeiras, Portugal, IBERWIND is one of the main wind power companies in Portugal and a promoter of reference in Europe. Currently, the company is exploring 31 wind parks in Portugal.

USE’s research team involved in this project is set up by Bernardo Silva, Henrique Teixeira and Carlos Moreira.
