INESC TEC increases participation in project AAL4ALL

INESC TEC’s Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM) was invited to join project AAL4ALL (Ambient Assisted Living for All). The invitation came from the project consortium and increases the participation of INESC TEC in this work as the team already included INESC TEC’s Information and Computer Graphics Systems Unit (USIG).

30th May 2013

This invitation came following the work conducted by UTM as part of project Living Usability Lab, which featured some of the partners of the AAL4ALL, and the research activities that have been conducted in partnership with Microsoft.

In this project, the UTM will be responsible for developing technologies to locate people in indoor spaces using video cameras, a line of research that has grown in recent years at UTM. This activity will be developed in close collaboration with Microsoft. Pedro Car valho will be representing UTM in this project, with the support of João Pedro Monteiro.

The AAL4ALL project aims to create an ecosystem to promote the development of business solutions in the field of Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) in Portugal. The main objective is to create a framework that facilitates the development of technologies that help reduce support costs and improve the quality of life of elderly citizens in Portugal. At USIG, the AAL4ALL project is led by Ângelo Martins.
