INESC TEC organises workshop on information security

On 28 February, INESC TEC organised the workshop “New Paradigms and Challenges for Information Security”. The goal was to disseminate the results obtained by the Associate Laboratory in terms of research on information security, a theme that involves over 80 researchers from several Units. The aim with this session was also to promote partnerships with companies interested in developing projects in this area.

Information security in companies is an increasingly important issue as they are using more and more services based on “cloud computing” and mobile devices. INESC TEC holds important competences in these areas, and therefore can help companies implement necessary security measures.

Several companies developing applications and implementing networks attended this workshop, as well as other organisations with IT networks. Some of the themes addressed by INESC TEC researchers included “Controlling access to information systems and information cryptography”, “Managing confidentiality in communications among user groups in real time” or “Data mining processes to detect frauds”.

Two other workshops are planned for this year to disseminate results in other areas of expertise.
