INESC TEC organises workshop to mark the end of project SITMe
On 13 July, INESC TEC organised a workshop to mark the end of project SITMe (Integrated Services for Metropolitan Transport), which took place at INESC Porto’s (the coordinating entity of INESC TEC) Auditorium. This event followed an information session on the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) calls for transportation and mobility.
30th July 2012
The SITMe project, which has recently been concluded, involved researchers from INESC TEC’s Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM), and it is based on an Internet and digital television system that is used on the STCP - Sociedade de Transportes Coletivos do Porto (a Porto bus network).
The system was available for passengers on the STCP route 207 (Campanhã/Mercado da Foz) for six months and the results are clearly positive: about 7 thousand users registered in the system and, while it was operating there was a total of 77 thousand Internet access sessions.
This project was developed by a consortium led by Xarevision, including INESC TEC and the Faculties of Engineering (FEUP) and Economics (FEP) of the University of Porto.
The information session on the FP7 calls was promoted by the GPPQ - Gabinete de Promoção do Programa-Quadro (the FP7 Promotion Office) of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), with the support of the ITS Portugal Association, and in partnership with INESC TEC e with the TICE.PT Competitiveness Cluster.
