INESC TEC participates in EnergyIN annual conference

On 26 and 27 June, INESC TEC’s Power Systems Unit (USE) participated in the third edition of the EnergyIN annual conference. At the event, the Unit presented solutions for intelligent electronic interfaces which can maximise the integration of solar and micro wind generation in power grids.

Under the theme "The Energy Industry: Growth Strategies for 2020", the conference included several presentations and three workshops on different themes relevant to Portuguese energy companies to help them invest in their growth in the near future.

The presentation given by Carlos Moreira, researcher at USE, promoted the work developed at the Laboratory of Microgeneration and Electric Vehicles, as well as the development of advanced electronic interfaces provided with local intelligence and communication capacity to respond to high level integrated management, and thus enable a large scale integration of wind microgeneration and solar photovoltaic units in low voltage grids.

EnergyIn is the brand name of the “Associação PCTE – Polo de Competitividade e Tecnologia da Energia” (PCTE Association – Energy and Technology Competitiveness Cluster), a private non-profit association funded by some of the main energy companies in Portugal (EDP, GALP ENERGIA, EFACEC and MARTIFER) and by the MIT Portugal Program. EnergyIN aims at cooperating with the scientific and business communities to promote competitiveness in this sector, and thus create wealth and qualified jobs in the country.
