The session took place at the Microsoft headquarters at the Parque das Nações in Lisbon, Portugal. The event included presentations on the context, objectives and outcomes of the project, and featured interventions from Clara Cidade, former Director of the e-Exclusion and Special Needs Foundation of Portugal Telecom, and Maria Emília de Noronha, President of the University for Senior Citizens in Lisbon.

It is important to highlight that project LUL was completed in late June and was a collaborative Research and Development (R&D) between Portuguese academia and industry. The goal was to create living laboratories and to develop technologies that can make the senior population healthier, more autonomous and active. The services covered include multimedia access to information and exchange of personal data, tele-health and automated delivery of medicines, as well as support to the daily activities of social, civic and community life. The ultimate aim is to improve not only the quality of life of citizens, but also their safety.

Other than INESC TEC, the project, which began in January 2010, featured a group of co-promoters which are: Microsoft, the Institute of Electronics and Telematics Engineering of Aveiro (IEETA), the University of Aveiro and Plux byMicro I/O - Serviços de Microelectrónica, Lda. The INESC TEC team involved in the project was led by Luís Côrte-Real, with the participation of researchers João Santos, Lucian Ciobanu and Pedro Carvalho, all researchers at UTM.
