INESC TEC researcher presents trends to future supply chains

Ana Barros, collaborator of INESC TEC’s Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE), made a presentation entitled “Trends and megatrends which affect the future supply chains” at the “NextNet & Inspire Workshop” event.

On 21 February, NEXT-NET & Inspire European projects organise a collaborative workshop on trends and developments paths of future supply chains in Brussels in the framework of EU Industry Week.

During the workshop, a group of University and industry specialists were given the opportunity to debate the main future supply chains’ trends and challenges of discrete manufacturing industries, process and distribution in six key areas: political, economic, social, technological, legal and environmental.

Besides, the attendees could participate in small groups in brainstorming sessions where they discuss the creation of developments paths to the most important trends.

NextNet project intends to create an intersectoral initiative on a European level in order to increase production and distribution relationship, by suggesting research and innovation priorities to future supply chains.

On the other hand, INSPIRE project has the purpose of developing new and groundbreaking business models required to build up more organised and connected value chains. These chains will allow European producers to become more competitive by adopting an operative and sustainable production.
