INESC TEC researcher wins Best Student Paper Award in Estonia
Yulia Karimova, researcher at the Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG) of INESC TEC, won the “Best Student Paper” Award at the 11th International Conference on Metadata and Semantics Research (MTSR).

Titled “Promoting Semantic Annotation of Research Data by their Creators: a use case with B2NOTE at the end of the RDM workflow”, this work had as co-authors João Aguiar Castro, João Rocha da Silva, Nelson Pereira and Cristina Ribeiro, also from CSIG. The work focuses on the application of methods and tools that are being developed in project TAIL of INESC TEC, namely the Dendro platform and its connection to services of the EUDAT European infrastructure, particularly B2SHARE and B2Note.
MTSR is an international and multi-disciplinary annual event that gathers academics, researchers and professionals in the areas of semantic research, ontologies and metadata, allowing participants to share knowledge and new approaches in the implementation of these technologies in different types of settings and application domains. MTSR is a place for discussing solutions in areas such as open access repositories, digital libraries, information recovery and e-science, with applications in domains like agriculture, food and environment, bio-health and medical information systems.
The “Best Student Paper Award” is one of the prizes awarded in this event. It awards student-authored original papers that show great scientific merit.
The conference took place between 28 November and 1 December in Tallinn, Estonia.
