INESC TEC starts project on digital TV monitoring
On 28 May, INESC TEC’s Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM) kicked off project TDT – Televisão Digital Terrestre (Digital Terrestrial Television).
26th June 2013
The main purpose is with this project is to develop and produce 400 devices to monitor the digital terrestrial television, and thus respond to the complaints of the users of TDT devices namely regarding the stability of the system. The probes will identify failures in the system, which is the main cause of complaints addressed to Deco (the Portuguese consumer rights association), and communicate them to the operator. The project will be receiving funding totalling 445 thousand Euros from the ICP - Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações (ICP-ANACOM, the national authority for communications).
Other than INESC TEC, the Consortium includes Ubiwhere and Wavecom. UTM will be responsible for following up and supervising the project. The UTM team includes Henrique Salgado, Sérgio Cunha and Henrique Miranda.
