SafeCloud Technologies - cloud security
SafeCloud Technologies creates tools for companies to store data in cloud infrastructures in a secure way. It is intended for "all types of companies, such as banks, hospitals and retailers, which have sensitive data and therefore need to ensure maximum security and privacy," says Francisco Maia, one of the founders and researcher at the High-Assurance Software Laboratory (HASLab) of INESC TEC.
At Web Summit for the second consecutive year, this startup develops solutions that ensure the security and privacy of information, distributing it across different entities without requiring the user to rely on any of them individually. The information is only accessible to its controller, who is the only one with simultaneous access to the different infrastructures.
MITMYNID - BIZCARGO.com
MITMYNID is one of the most recent startups of INESC TEC and is responsible for the development of BIZCARGO, a booking platform for freight carriers that allows searching, combining and comparing transportation and logistics services.
The platform is the result of years of research carried out by the Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG) of INESC TEC. It "distinguishes itself by the intelligent way it finds the best solutions, combining services that have never before been combined and that take into account various criteria such as location and complementarity", explains Rui Barros, CEO of the startup.
Web Summit - the technological summit par excellence
Artificial intelligence, flying cars and robotics were some of the topics covered at the Web Summit 2017, which took place between the Altice Arena, the Lisbon International Fair, the Parque das Nações and the rest of Lisbon. The event took place from 6 to 9 November and this year it had about 60,000 participants from 170 countries.
Focusing on the subject of Internet technology, Web Summit had attendees ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small technology companies, in a mix of CEOs and founders of technology startups, with a number of people from the global technology industry and from related areas.
Web Summit was created in Dublin, Ireland and has been held annually since 2009. Founded by Paddy Cosgrave, David Kelly and Daire Hickey, it is the largest event of its kind in Europe. The city of Lisbon will host it again in November 2018.
