INESC TEC welcomes meeting with IETF group

On 12 October, INESC TEC hosted a meeting of the DIME work group (Diameter Maintenance and Extensions) of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the body responsible for standardising and promoting the protocols that govern the operation of the Internet.

23rd October 2013

The DIME work group is dedicated to maintaining and extending the DIAMETER protocol, mainly used in access control in communication networks (for instance, Wi-Fi and cellular communications). The meeting was attended by 10 participants from various countries (United States, India, France, the Netherlands and Spain) and the leading telecommunications companies – Cisco (USA), Orange and Alcatel – Lucent (both from France) and Telefonica (Spain) – who discussed aspects related to the specific standardisation activity of the work group.

Organised by the Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM), this meeting was an opportunity to demonstrate the activity of INESC TEC, to make contacts and discuss potential collaborations for the future, whether under this standardisation body or within research projects.
