INESC TEC works in partnership with InovRetail

In the beginning of November, INESC TEC (the entity coordinated by INESC Porto) started working on a project with company InovRetail Lda. The aim with this project, entitled ASSIST, is to study and develop technology and algorithms for video processing which can help analyse movement patterns of groups of people in closed spaces.

The aim is to obtain a system that is flexible and affordable in the social and economic context in Portugal, with high potential for export. Through its Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM), INESC TEC will be developing the video processing components which will be detecting and following people automatically. At INESC TEC the project is being coordinated by Pedro Carvalho, a researcher at UTM.

InovRetail is an innovation company that develops new and advanced solutions designed to improve the customer store experience, making the Retail Spaces more attractive, dynamic and efficient, with measurable return for the clients.
