FITiNSENSE is the name of the new product of the Portuguese company that has recently launched in the North-American city of Boston. This is a unique system that can be applied in sports footwear to improve the performance of athletes and prevent injuries.

According to Paulo Ferreira dos Santos, CEO, Kinematix, “Sports can put tremendous pressure on the feet, ankles and legs. It is essential for athletes of all ages and skill levels to be fitted properly with the right athletic shoe." The FITiNSENSE combines the company’s expertise in microelectronic sensing with the accuracy and convenience of a wearable device.

With the information obtained, the innovative system provides personalized customer reports for a visible improvement in fit and built-in customer follow up capability. FITiNSENSE is now available to retail sports apparel and sports specialty shops fitting casual, competitive and serious athletes with footwear. According to the company CEO, “FITiNSENSE technology allows retailers to effectively engage with their customers and provides a comprehensive in-shoe assessment and gait analysis in just minutes." It is important to remember that the company already commercialises two products, the MOViNSENSE and the WALKiNSENSE, which have already received by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and CE clearance.

This is an important step to consolidate the company’s entry in the North-American market. Other than the United States, Kinematix already has a branch office in Sheffield, UK, and an office in the Netherlands. Kinematix (formerly Tomorrow Options) was incubated in 2007 by INESC Porto and FEUP, and created as part of the MIETE – Master in Innovation and Technological Entrepreneurship, which is the result of a partnership between the Faculties of Engineering and Economics of the University of Porto (FEUP and FEP).
