LIAAD INESC Porto LA researcher edits book
Carlos Soares, a researcher from the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (LIAAD) recently edited the book Data Mining for Business Applications for the IOS Press. The book is about the use of data mining principally in the areas of Economics and Management and it was edited in conjunction with Rayid Ghani (Accenture Technology Labs).

It presents diverse cases including not only applications for data mining nowadays but also some more innovative applications. It highlights price forecasting on Ebay as well as the automatic filtering of relevant information about the market that allows companies to understand the context in which they operate and react more quickly.
The articles were selected from presentations that took place in a series of workshops on Data Mining for Business that have been running since 2005 in various different countries.
