Results of project from UESP presented in open session

The CEC-made-shoe project was developed in four years by the Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit (UESP) and it has been recently concluded. Now, the project will be presented in open session at the company Kyaia in Paredes de Coura, on 21 July.

30th June 2008

The project’s aim was to develop new manufacturing processes, new natural materials, an updated relationship between supply and demand, and the whole electronic integration of the value chain in order to enable the use of nanotechnologies and intelligent materials.

Coordinated by the European Confederation for the Footwear Industry in collaboration with 54 partners from 14 different countries, the CEC-made-shoe promises to provide a new manufacturing paradigm for the European footwear industry that allows a significant cost reduction.

INESC Porto, Kyaia, DCB and Lirel are some of the Portuguese organisations participating in this project.
