USIC collaborates with National Coordination for the HIV/AIDS infection

The National Coordination for HIV/AIDS infection – Ministry of Health (CNSIDA), intends to develop an information system that can be distributed/used by all the health units that treat people who are infected with HIV/AIDS.

25th November 2006

Apart from contributing to the standardization of clinical processes, the HIV/AIDS Information System (SI.VIDA) should make it possible to transfer data as clearly as possible (obeying the rules imposed by the Portuguese Data Protection Authority) and, ultimately, a better assessment and management of the resources involved.

Considering the prior objectives, and in the scope of a protocol celebrated between CNSIDA and INESC Porto, last September they developed a project which purpose is the provision of services of specialized technical advisory aiming at the specification of a computer system that supports the collection and processing of the data of people infected with HIV/AIDS. For such, activities of diagnosis, collection and analysis will be developed as well as specification of requisites.

The specification of requisites to develop will act as a technical annex to a description of the activities, and based on that, a contest for the development of the HIV/AIDS Information System.

The Information Systems Unit’s team allocated to this project is led by José Correia. Paulo Monteiro is also involved, as a senior advisor.
