INESC TEC spin-off acknowledged as one of the most promising in the world in digital health

ILoF – Intelligent on Fiber, a spin-off from the University of Porto, established in INESC TEC and currently incubated at the Faculty of Medicine (FMUP), is among the 150 most promising start-ups in the field of digital health worldwide, according to a list provided by CB Insights, a North American company specialised in business analysis.

Project resorts to photonics and AI to predict the evolution of COVID-19 infection

A group of researchers from INESC TEC's Centre for Applied Photonics (CAP), Centre for Biomedical Engineering Research (C-BER) and Centre for Innovation Technology and Entrepreneurship (CITE), together with the spin-off iLoF, is studying the implementation of a quick and low-cost tool based on personalised medicine, in order to predict the evolution of  Covid-19 viral infection in patients.

FCT approved five INESC TEC projects to fight against COVID-19

The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) approved five INESC TEC projects under the "RESEARCH FOR COVID-19" financing line, with the Institute as the applicant entity in three of said projects - and a total of €85M funding. These initiatives will focus on the development of solutions to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

INESC TEC participates in microsatellite supplying project for space exploration

INESC TEC is partner in a European project, which aims at developing a microsatellite supplying system using optical fibre lasers for space exploration. The kick-off meeting of WiPTherm – Innovative Wireless Power devices using micro-thermoelectric generators arrays was held on 29 November.

INESC TEC technologies present at Marinetech 2019

With proven international experience in the Marine Technologies area, INESC TEC was on the spotlight at the Marinetech event, organised by the Hydrographic Institute (IH), and at the workshop "Linking Earth Observation data and Sustainable Development across the Atlantic", organised by the IH and the Air Centre, which were an opportunity for Portuguese and foreign experts from the Sea sector to discuss the challenges of linking Earth observation data and sustainable development in the Atlantic.

Exhibition at FCUP celebrates the 50 years since the arrival of man on the moon

On 20 July of 1969, the American astronaut Neil Armstrong walked on the moon for the first time. The University of Porto (U.Porto), along with INESC TEC, intended to mark the anniversary of the first moon landing with a number of activities, including an exhibition entitled “50 anos da Chegada do Homem à Lua” (in English “50 years since the arrival of man on the moon”).
