Alexandre Valle de Carvalho, researcher at INESC Porto’s Information and Communication Unit (USIC) will be in Berlin in January as visiting professor at the University of Potsdam and as guest researcher at the Hasso-Plattner Institut (HPI). The invitation was made by Juergen Doellner, director of the Department of Graphic Computing at HPI and professor at the University of Potsdam.

The aim with this project is to implement a cross-border ocean observation network that consolidates operational oceanography on the Iberian coast, thus creating new scientific and technologic opportunities that promote ocean economy.

InstitutionalIn the context of the Collaboration Protocol concluded with CCDR-N, the authority elected to manage the Atlantic Area Transnational Programme, which will take place between 2007-2013 including the 36 regions (NUTS II) with an Atlantic front in Portugal, Spain, France, United Kingdom and Ireland, INESC Porto has been cooperating in the development of a tool to support this Programme’s management. This project follows the previous Interreg III B Atlantic Area.

InstitutionalINESC Porto developed a Collaborative Platform in 2006 for the elaboration and public discussion of the Planos Regionais de Ordenamento do Território - PROT (Regional Plans for Town and Country Planning). This platform is currently being used for the PROTs in the Western, Tejo Valley, Central and Northern Portuguese regions. The first PROTs are reaching the stage of public discussion and it is already possible to assess the design stage.
