INESC TEC’s Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG) is part of a new European project that focuses on measuring the amount of radon gas in the atmosphere, for radiological and climate protection purposes. The European project BEACONING - Breaking Educational Barriers with Contextualized, Pervasive and Gameful Learning, developed in partnership with INESC TEC's Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG), was the big winner of the “Gamification Software Award”. This competition aims to reward disruptive projects in the field of gamification.

It won’t be a traditional book, but it won’t be an e-book either. It will support a learning model with innovative characteristics. This is the idea behind the “Augmented Book for the Creative Introduction to Programming”, a project by António Coelho, from INESC TEC’s Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG), one of the winners of the competition for “Pedagogical Innovation Projects”, part of the “Promoting Pedagogical Excellence” programme by the University of Porto.

The closing session of the project SIMPROVE – Medical Simulation Centre of the Future, which brought together FMUP, INESC TEC and the company STI-Medical, was attended by Guid Oei, professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology (the Netherlands), an expert in the medical simulation area applied to Obstetrics and member of a consortium that won EUR 2.9 million for the development of an artificial uterus prototype.

With proven international experience in the Marine Technologies area, INESC TEC was on the spotlight at the Marinetech event, organised by the Hydrographic Institute (IH), and at the workshop "Linking Earth Observation data and Sustainable Development across the Atlantic", organised by the IH and the Air Centre, which were an opportunity for Portuguese and foreign experts from the Sea sector to discuss the challenges of linking Earth observation data and sustainable development in the Atlantic.

INESC TEC participates in the Cross-border project named RADAR_ON_RAIA, which is coordinated by CETMAR – Centro Tecnológico del Mar_Fundación CETMAR and approved by POCTEP (Operative Program of Cross Border Cooperation Spain – Portugal), with a budget of around EUR 1.5 million and a duration of 36 months.
