INESC TEC leads energy efficiency project

The new European project in the area of energy systems is called FEEdBACK (Fostering Energy Efficiency and BehAvioural Change through ICT) and is led by INESC TEC. The kick-off meeting was held on 2 and 3 November in the city of Porto.

INESC TEC participated in the 13th Congress of the Portuguese Press Association, which took place at the University of Aveiro, from the 2nd to 4th of November. INESC TEC's participation took place within the TEC4Media initiative and had the collaboration of David Narciso and Rui Rodrigues, researchers at CSIG - Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics.

INESC TEC startups at the largest technological conference

Web Summit, the largest European conference on entrepreneurship, technology and innovation, had the participation of 2100 startups, which tried their luck to obtain funding. Two of these originated in INESC TEC: SafeCloud Technologies and MitMyNid.

Prize for article presented at the Brazilian Congress on Informatics in Education

The article "SimProgramming: uma abordagem motivacional para a aprendizagem de alunos intermediários de programação” [SimProgramming: a motivational approach to learning for intermediate students of programming], by Ricardo Rodrigues Nunes, researcher at the Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG) of INESC TEC, won the award for best paper at the "III Workshop on Teaching Computational Thinking, Algorithms and Programming - WAlgProg/2017".

Project from INESC TEC researcher gets 1st place at the Astellas Oncology Awards

HOPE is the name of the videogame that won a prize of 50 thousand euros by getting the first place of the Astellas Oncology C3 Prize, an international competition that distinguishes the best technological therapies for cancer patients.

INESC TEC participates in project about climate change on the coast of Galicia and Northern Portugal

The first meeting of the cross-border project MarRISK took place on the 11th of July in Santiago de Compostela. This project is coordinated by METEOGALICIA (regional meteorological agency of Galicia) and was approved by the Operational Programme for Cross-border Cooperation: Spain – Portugal (POCTEP). INESC TEC is one of the partners of the project.

INESC TEC researchers awarded in Fraunhöfer competition

Nuno Moniz, from the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (LIAAD), and João Monteiro, from the Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG), both INESC TEC researchers, were two of the winners of the Fraunhöfer Portugal Challenge 2017. This competition awards research works that demonstrate practicality and promote cooperation between the industry and the scientific community, in two categories (Master’s and PhDs).

Project RELECT of INESC TEC gathers data to study environmental radioactivity

Within the scope of the work developed by INESC TEC in the field of environmental radioactivity, with an emphasis on geoscientific applications like monitoring radon gas, the RELECT (Radioactivity and Electric field monitoring campaign at Hyytiälä) campaign took place in the SMEAR II station, in Finland, between the 12th and 16 th of June, with funding by project ENVRIplus.
