Applications are now open for the second edition of the course “Shop floor digitalisation – making digitalisation happen in the Industry”; this event is a partnership between INESC TEC and INEGI, and will take place on October 16. Registrations for this programme - designed to help companies address the challenges of digitalisation - are open until October 13.

An INESC TEC-led study concluded that when a product is not delivered as expected - whether because it is out of stock or replaced with another - customers spend less and take longer to make another purchase, which can represent accumulated annual revenue losses for retailers of more than 12%.

The TacitRouting project - combining data science methods with traditional optimisation techniques for last-mile route planning to make them more efficient - received the PEL Academia 2025 prize by APLOG, the Portuguese Logistics Association. As part of the Bioshoes4All project, INESC TEC is in the final development phase of a traceability solution that tracks the entire lifecycle of footwear - from raw materials to the final product. The main benefit of this system is harnessing data already being recorded in company systems, automatically using it to create a complete traceability record.

Launched in 2022 under the leadership of INESC TEC, to contribute to the development of a more sustainable and resilient industry sector, SoTecIn Factory is now, three years later, showcasing dozens of technologies designed to boost the circularity of value chains. Over two days, the SoTecIn Factory Start-up Day presented high-impact circular solutions across the plastics and packaging, textile, and agro-food sectors - aiming to connect them with companies and organisations interested in increasing the circularity of their processes.

Recognised as the most important European meeting point in robotics and artificial intelligence (AI), the European Robotics Forum took place in Stuttgart at the end of March. INESC TEC was present at the event, showcasing projects and demonstrating technologies at its own exhibition stand and presenting a scientific paper.

Homes in Europe are estimated to be responsible for approximately 40% of the European Union's energy consumption and 36% of greenhouse gas emissions. DECODIT, a European project featuring INESC TEC, will support the energy transition of homes, through the development of digital services to support citizens in the decision-making process of renovating and managing the energy of their homes. These services will help us choose the solutions that best meet our personal needs.

INESC TEC is one of the partners of the European project Mari4_YARD, dedicated to the development of flexible and modular construction solutions in small and medium-sized shipyards; this endeavour was one of the winners in the Economic Viability category of the prestigious Waterbone Awards initiative. The award acknowledged the work carried out within the scope of this project, which aimed to develop technological solutions to assist naval workers, as well as to prepare operations for the future.
