Two projects developed by INESC TEC teams were presented in the European Researchers' Night, a initiative of the European Commission that takes place simultaneously in more than 30 countries and 300 cities throughout Europe.

Five technological solutions, two used in the forest and three used in the agriculture, representing a total investment of around EUR 7.4 million, were exhibited in Agroglobal 2018, the largest agricultural fair in Portugal that took place in Valada do Ribatejo (Santarém) between 5 and 7 September.

Alberto Adrego Pinto, researcher of INESC TEC’s Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support Laboratory (LIAAD) and Full Professor at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, has just edited the third volume of the series “Modeling, Dynamics, Optimization and Bioeconomics”, alongside with David Zilberman from the UC Berkeley, California, USA.

Alberto Adrego Pinto and João Paulo Almeida, researchers of INESC TEC’s Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support Laboratory (LIAAD), and José Fernando Oliveira, researcher for INESC TEC’s Centre for Industrial Engineering and Management (CEGI), in partnership with António Ismael Vaz, professor at the University of Minho, edited the book entitled Operational Research, IO 2017 - XVIII Congress of APDIO, Valença, Portugal, June 28-30, 2017, number 223 of the series Springer Proceedings in Mathematics and Statistics, published by the prestigious publisher Springer.

A team of researchers of INESC TEC was responsible for organising the first international workshop on narrative extraction from texts, known as Text2Story’18. The event was held on 26 March in France under the ECIR’18 - 40th European Conference on Information Retrieval.

A team of researchers of INESC TEC was responsible for the organisation of the first international workshop on incremental models for user recommendation and modelling, entitled ORSUM (Online Recommender Systems and User Modeling). The event was held on 23 April in Lyon, France, under the “The Web Conference 2018”.

The paper entitled “A Text Feature Based Automatic Keyword Extraction Method for Single Documents” by Ricardo Campos, Vitor Mangaravite, Arian Pasquali and Alípio M. Jorge, researchers from INESC TEC’s Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support Laboratory (LIAAD) and by Célia Nunes from the University of Beira Interior (UBI), and by Adam Jatowt from Kyoto University, won the ECIR 2018 Best Short Paper Award, promoted by the 40th European Conference on Information Retrieval.
