INESC Porto starts European project on Virtual Factories

The European project "Holistic, extensible, scalable and standard Virtual Factory Framework (VFF)" started on 1 September. Inserted in the 7th EU Framework Programme, the VFF project aims at supporting industrial companies, providing tools that make it possible to improve processes related to the design, management, evaluation and reconfiguration of new or existing industrial facilities.

INESC Porto starts DINAMIC project

INESC Porto’s Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit (UESP) started working on the DINAMIC project in January, in the context of the Interreg-SUODE Programme. The project is coordinated by the Official Chamber of Trade, Industry and Navigation of Barcelona, together with the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (IPS) and the Chambers of Commerce of Cantabria, Catalonia and Toulouse.

Product developed with UESP awarded with Innovation prize

The One Step Production Process product, developed within a partnership between the Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit (UESP) and Lirel (among others) was awarded with an Innovation prize in the footwear sector. The GAPI-CTCP Tecnológica 2008 awards were granted on 11 March by the Portuguese Shoe Technological Center (CTCP) in the context of the III Jornadas ShoeInov (3rd ShoeInov Days).

Results of project from UESP presented in open session

The CEC-made-shoe project was developed in four years by the Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit (UESP) and it has been recently concluded. Now, the project will be presented in open session at the company Kyaia in Paredes de Coura, on 21 July.

INESC Porto develops SIMULOG project

The Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit started developing in 2007 the SIMULOG project – Simulation and operation of internal logistics systems. This project is financed by PRIME (Incentive Programme for the Modernisation of the Economy), and its main goal is to develop a set of software components that will enable the construction of simulation models for internal logistics automation systems in industrial enterprises. INESC Porto is this project’s sole promoter.
