The second edition of the SMEs support programme of the DIVA project, coordinated by INESC TEC’s Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CITE), selected 68 innovative tech-based projects in the agro-food, environment and forestry sectors – among 255 proposals from six countries (Portugal, Spain, France, Greece, Italy and Ireland).

A group of researchers from INESC TEC's Centre for Applied Photonics (CAP), Centre for Biomedical Engineering Research (C-BER) and Centre for Innovation Technology and Entrepreneurship (CITE), together with the spin-off iLoF, is studying the implementation of a quick and low-cost tool based on personalised medicine, in order to predict the evolution of Covid-19 viral infection in patients.

The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) approved five INESC TEC projects under the "RESEARCH FOR COVID-19" financing line, with the Institute as the applicant entity in three of said projects - and a total of €85M funding. These initiatives will focus on the development of solutions to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The kick-off online meeting of the Mirrorlabs project took place on March 24. This project aims to create a software architecture that facilitates the integration of virtual and augmented reality and robots. INESC TEC is one of the project’s partners, through the Centre for Robotics in Industry and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS) and the Centre for Enterprise Engineering Systems (CESE).

Last2Ticket is the name of the latest success story of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), coordinated by INESC TEC's Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CITE). This company, based at UPTEC (Porto), managed to enter the global markets of Europe and of USA and INESC TEC was present at the check-in.

Abílio Pereira Pacheco, researcher of INESC TEC’s Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CITE), won the Fundação Eng. António de Almeida Award for the best PhD thesis in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering and Management, completed in the civil year of 2017 at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP).

DIVA is the European project, which has the collaboration of INESC TEC’s Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CITE), Centre for Industrial Engineering and Management(CESE) and Centre for Robotics in Industry and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS), that is giving Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SME) the opportunity to present technological solutions in the Agrofood, Forestry and Environment areas. In total, EUR 3 million are available - divided in two phases of competition - in order to support companies from Portugal, Spain, France, Greece, Italy and Ireland that submit innovative projects.
