This was the motto of the 2019 edition of the European Maritime Day (EMD), an annual event promoted by the European Commission (DG MARE), which took place on Lisbon Congress Centre between 16 and 17 May and that had the participation of INESC TEC.

Fábio Azevedo was the winner of the Portuguese Robotics Society Award for the Best National Master Thesis in Robotics completed in 2018, under the theme "Real-Time LiDAR-based Power Lines Detection for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles" within the work developed at INESC TEC's Centre for Robotics and Autonomous Systems (CRAS) and the School of Engineering of Porto (ISEP).

The European project UNEXMIN, which was codeveloped by INESC TEC's Centre for Robotics and Autonomous Systems (CRAS), won an honourable mention in the awards of the Portuguese magazine Exame Informática in the “Innovation” category. The award ceremony took place on 9 May.

It was at the beginning of April that the robot, developed under the European project UNEXMIN, was successfully tested in the former Urgeiriça uranium mine (Nelas, Viseu).

In October, Ana Pires became the first Portuguese woman to obtain the scientist-astronaut diploma in the PoSSUM Scientist Astronaut Qualification Program, which was supported by NASA and taught at the Embry-riddle Aeronautical University (Florida, USA), one of the most prestigious universities in the United States for already having trained several astronauts.

Alfredo Martins, Aníbal Matos, Eduardo Silva and Nuno Cruz, collaborators of INESC TEC’s Centre for Robotics and Autonomous Systems (CRAS) were part of the International Committee of the organisation of the AUV - Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Symposium, an event dedicated to technology and its corresponding applications in autonomous maritime vehicles.
