The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) approved five INESC TEC projects under the "RESEARCH FOR COVID-19" financing line, with the Institute as the applicant entity in three of said projects - and a total of €85M funding. These initiatives will focus on the development of solutions to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

RADAR – an Autonomous Robot for Disinfection at Hospitals - is one of INESC TEC's projects approved by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) within the scope of the exclusive line of financing to address the Covid-19 pandemic. The autonomous robot developed by the Centre for Robotics in Industry and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS) will help disinfecting rooms at hospital units, through sensors and UV lamps.

CPPS 101 - Cyber Physical Production Systems 101 - is the name of the project that aims to improve the knowledge about cyber-physical production systems (CPPS) and smart manufacturing. The project was launched within the scope of EIT Manufacturing, an Innovation Community part of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), and is led by INESC TEC through the Centre for Industrial Robotics and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS).

The kick-off online meeting of the Mirrorlabs project took place on March 24. This project aims to create a software architecture that facilitates the integration of virtual and augmented reality and robots. INESC TEC is one of the project’s partners, through the Centre for Robotics in Industry and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS) and the Centre for Enterprise Engineering Systems (CESE).

Determining water stress in plants is a critical task for the optimisation of water-based agricultural inputs and contributes to more sustainable and efficient processes. With this market need in mind, INESC TEC developed a technology capable of mapping the water distribution in the vegetation. The innovation called Water Percept is among the three finalists of the «Entrepreneurship and Innovation" award from Crédito Agrícola, in the "Production, Transformation and Commercialisation" category.
