InstitutionalBetween 25 and 27 August, INESC TEC participated in the final demonstration of European project CARloS - CooperAtive Robot for Large Spaces manufacturing, which took place in La Coruña, Spain. The prototype of the robot was successfully demonstrated at the facilities of the shipyards “Astilleros Jose Valiña”, the end user of the technology and one of the project’s partners.

InstitutionalThe transportation area is typically associated with civil engineering (namely in terms of planning and infrastructures), but over the past few years INESC TEC has managed to gain a relevant position in this area due to the Associate Laboratory’s multidisciplinary nature. Transportations, mobility and logistics are the foundation of TEC4MOBILITY, an initiative that is taking shape to combine and promote skills in this domain at INESC TEC, and to interface with companies.

InstitutionalBetween 11 and 12 November, INESC TEC hosted the first integration workshop on project CARLoS (CooperAtive Robot for Large Spaces manufacturing), where the goal is to develop a mobile manipulating robot for fit-out and coating applications, or to be used inside superstructure blocks in ships.

InstitutionalINESC TEC is part of the Production Technologies Cluster (PRODUTECH), which demonstrated the new assembly line of the company ADIRA, the ADIRA Production System. The entire manufacturing system was designed and implemented with innovative technology, including software to optimise production and autonomous vehicles that supply each work station with the materials necessary to assemble customised orders. INESC TEC’s Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE) and Centre for Robotics and Intelligent Systems (CROB)* developed almost the entire manufacturing system.

InstitutionalOn 13 February, INESC TEC welcomed the director for international relations of the National Institute of Informatics (NII), Henri Angelino. The goal was to establish possible cooperation agreements with the Japanese institute.
