European project funds demonstrations of technological solutions that contribute to reducing the industry's carbon footprint
12th July 2022
The European Demo4Green project launched a call to select and support companies that develop solutions to address sustainability challenges, i.e., reducing the consumption of raw materials, energy, water or waste, increasing the use of resources from renewable sources, or valuing waste. "The project will support SMEs, start-ups and scaleups, providing them the opportunity to demonstrate their digital and innovative solutions, according to the Test Before Invest concept, in Teaching and Learning Factories located in Portugal, Greece, Czech Republic, Spain, Lithuania, Estonia, Italy and Poland," explained Ana Simões.
According to the INESC TEC researcher, eight companies will be selected - one for each of the countries mentioned -, which will benefit from €10K and a set of activities, namely mentoring and training. The objective is to leverage solutions and support the green and digital transformation of the European industry, particularly among RIS (Regional Innovation Scheme) countries. "The selected projects will have access to personalised mentoring for technological and business development, financing or intellectual property strategies, training on how to implement a demonstrator, or support for communication activities, through the development of promotional material, among other initiatives," stated Ana Simões.
In Portugal, the selected company will be able to install a solution at iiLab – INESC TEC's Industry and Innovation Laboratory. Applications are done via the form available on the project's website - until August 13.
Demo4Green - Green Manufacturing: Demonstrating technologies to fight Climate Change is a project co-financed by EIT Manufacturing, which brings together eight partners from eight European countries, aiming to disseminate the demonstration of digital technologies to reduce the industry's carbon footprint, in high-tech infrastructures among RIS countries.
The dissemination of this initiative is also part of the activities of the EEN, with INESC TEC as member and support office.
