Porto receives world experts on blockchains - new solutions will be presented
05th July 2018
The debate will take place at the Congress and Exhibition Centre of the Dr. António Cupertino de Miranda Foundation (Porto) and so far, there are almost a hundred people from Portugal, USA, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, South Korea, Indonesia and Tunisia, who are already registered to attend and to participate in the debate.
Originally driven by cryptocurrencies, such as the bitcoin, the blockchain technology is now internationally known and represents a complete ecosystem in areas such as computer science, economy, business or even law.
Next week’s conference is a novelty in the field and aims to gather academia and industry related to blockchain technology in order to combine forces and improve the technology.
Renowned researchers on that field, authors of books and speakers will be part of the debate in the fields of blockchain, distributed systems, economy and security.
“We will have four international keynote speakers, Christian Cachin researcher of IBM in Switzerland, Pierre Rochard co- founder of Satoshi Nakamoto Institute in USA, Ghassan Karame, scientist at NEC Labs in Germany and Wayne Huang, security experts and CEO of Xrex in Taiwan and 13 speakers that are researchers in different areas, such as blockchain, distributed systems, security, economy or sociology”, explains Ali Shoker, senior researcher of INESC TEC’s High-Assurance Software Laboratory (HASLab) and main organiser of this conference.
The first day of the conference will be dedicated to a less technical part, aimed at a broader audience. The second day will be focused on talks given by speakers and which will be related to existing solutions, new solutions for the market and challenges of the technology.
