The European project InteGrid discusses the best in the smart grids field in Europe
25th June 2018
That is exactly why 10 Portuguese startups and 1 foreigner were selected in order to present in the afternoon a pitch on a technological solution in one of the following areas: electric vehicle charging and fleet management, smart grids technologies and renewable energies.
“Since the Portuguese market is composed in more than 90% of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), that despite having several technological solutions, they are always able to reach the so-called manufacturing leaders, we believe that it would make sense to bring this sort of enterprises to the debate. That is why we launched a tender and we selected 10 enterprises of those who applied”, explains Ricardo Bessa, senior researcher of INESC TEC, scientific coordinator of the European project Integrid and one of the organisers of the event alongside with EDP Distribuição.
The event “From Intelligent Energy Solutions to Disruptive Business Models” comes within the framework of the European project InteGrid and aims to enable three European countries - Portugal, Sweden and Slovenia -, to enhance their smart power grids until 2020. The EUR 15M European project joined the activities promoted by the European Commission entitled “Energy Days”. Energy Days are events that take place between May and June and aim to show the importance of sustainable energies to citizens and industry.
Beginning at 10:00 a.m., the event will start with the presentation of the InteGrid project by EDP Distribuição. In the morning, it will also be possible to attend two panel sessions: one session focuses on the academia, with interventions from the University of Comillas, INESC TEC and KTH from Sweden and the other session gives a voice to the industry, with real-time demonstrations of technology solutions that are being developed under the project by General Electric, CyberGrid, SAP, INESC TEC, Águas do Tejo Atlântico and CNET - Center for New Technologies.
Jorge Vasconcelos from NEWES (New Energy Solutions) is the keynote speaker in a session that starts at 2 p.m. Right after that, there will also be a debate by some of the different stakeholders of the project such as ERSE, APIGCEE, REN, EDP Labelec, FCT/Nova and IST. The debate will be moderated by EDP Distribuição.
The pitchs from the 10 selected SMEs will close the session.
