In 2017, under the innovation fund Digital News Initiative, Google funded a project of the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC) in order to stimulate the innovation in the digital journalism. Less than two years later, INESC TEC developed the Augmented Video 360 – an editing and visualisation tool for 360º videos with dynamic annotations in order to improve narratives. That’s why telling stories using 360º videos is easier now.

This is just one of the examples of a possible application of the technology. The solution can also be applied to the fishing sector and to allow the exploration of businesses in offshore wind power plants and oil platforms.
