Artificial Intelligence for LIBS applications
AI-LIBS technology is a new explainable artificial intelligence system capable of identifying and quantifying any chemical element in a sample. Moreover, AI-LIBS solves a need in the scope of element quantification by the spectrophotometry technique LIBS, being the unique technology capable of identifying and quantifying all the elements present in complex samples. Despite it is a cross-sectional technology, AI-LIBS is particularly relevant and has already been successfully tested for in-situ characterization of ores (e.g. Lithium), and biological samples in both the agricultural and health context (e.g. ions quantification). Thus, this technology has 4 main application industries aligned with 4 priority themes and respective topics of the National Strategy for Intelligent Specialization (ENEI), as well as 4 priority areas and respective topics of the North Intelligent Specialization Strategy (RIS3). Products and services based on AI-LIBS will compete in the market for spectroscopy which was valued at US $ 39 billion in 2017 by TechNavio and is expected to grow 7% per year (2017-2021). Due to the disruptive potential of LIBS when associated with AI-LIBS, this market is expected to expand with the application of this technology to areas such as quality control in the production of materials and in the healthcare. This project aims to finance an international patent application (PCT) and its respective national validations in the world's largest markets in order to enhance the economic return and impact on society of AI-LIBS technology.
