New Generation Contents for Education and Vocational Training
CNG aimed to introduce the use of immersive environments as an innovative way of delivering appealing educational contents while taking profit of 3D audio and video. This new way of presenting content provides users new spatial perceptions for different knowledge areas, which have been initially explored with mathematics, geometry and music, offering the young students truly different ways of learning. From the operational point of view, the project adopted the approach of concentrating computational resources in high performance centres to allow the use of low-cost terminal equipment that can easily be bought by the average end-user and also profiting from new generation communication networks with low latency and high bandwidth. The project has also developed a personalised multiview streaming prototype, allowing remote users to experience visually immersed consumption of entertainment content.
