Research Anthology on Strategies for Achieving Agricultural Sustainability

Abstract
Information and communication technologies have contributed decisively to the evolution of the agriculture field, allowing the exchange of information between various platforms, the automation of processes, and the storage and processing of large volumes of data. This study proposes the development of an application for mobile devices that facilitates the process of managing and monitoring the production of an urban farming. The application can also be used by less experienced farmers by providing relevant information on the best products per season according to soil characteristics and climate. The results of the developed application demonstrated the application’s potential to increase crops visibility, increase efficiency throughout the value chain, access to real-time business and financial data, turns possible to customize the application according to the users’ profile, increase the efficiency of marketing processes, and contribute to reducing transport costs. © 2022 by IGI Global. Research Anthology on Combating Cyber-Aggression and Online Negativity

Abstract
Increasingly social networks are used both in the personal and professional levels, being companies and employees also exposed to the risks posed by them. In this sense, it is relevant to analyze employees' perception of the risks and vulnerabilities posed by the use of social networks in corporate environments. For this purpose, a questionnaire was developed and distributed to 372 employees of small and medium-sized companies that allowed the characterization and analysis of those risks. The results indicate that the security risks are perceived moderately by employees, emphasizing the risk of defamation and cyberbullying as being the most pertinent. On the other hand, the findings indicate that older employees, the existence of lower academic qualifications, and those working in medium-sized companies are more aware of these risks.

Contributions to Management Science

Abstract
Technology has been transforming the tourism industry and placing greater emphasis on offering differentiating and immersive tourist experiences. Tourists have assumed the position of content generators who interact with the regions and communities they visit, rather than mere passive visitors. This chapter explores the role of new technological advances (e.g., artificial intelligence, augmented reality, Internet of Things, big data) in the development of enriching experiences, having as a central element the positioning of the Douro River as a unique heritage element that is important to know and explore. The chapter explores a set of entrepreneurial initiatives in the Douro River that use technology to provide enriching experiences to its visitors in areas as distinct as river tourism, creative tourism, enotourism, or museology. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

SOCIAL SCIENCES-BASEL

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic is producing not only epidemiological consequences on a global scale, but also political, economic, and social repercussions. The health care professionals that have been on the front lines fighting the pandemic need the support and assistance of other organizations to meet the many daily challenges. Volunteer firefighters stand out for their outreach approach and implementation of the Human2Human paradigm that has enabled them to meet the needs of the most vulnerable population that have been hit the hardest by the pandemic. This study adopts an ethnographic-action method considering Portuguese volunteer firefighters to explore the characteristics and relevance of these initiatives in areas such as combating isolation, medical assistance, containing the spread of COVID-19, and promoting public-private partnerships. The findings reveal that factors associated with altruism are central elements in the emergence of these initiatives, although some locally or nationally coordinated initiatives have been replicated in other contexts. It is also noteworthy that volunteer firefighters also present initiatives that can be fit into more than one category.

International Journal of Social Ecology and Sustainable Development

Abstract
COVID-19 has brought new challenges to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals as proposed by the United Nations in the 2030 Agenda. However, innovative projects developed by governments, private sector, and civil society present themselves as an opportunity to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 on sustainable development. This study uses the Observatory of Public Sector Innovation promoted by the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development to explore how innovative projects address the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The Portuguese context is used to qualitatively characterize this phenomenon. The findings reveal that these projects also offer relevant contributions in areas such as public infrastructure support, health promotion, quality of education, and reduced inequalities. Journal of Business Ecosystems

Abstract

This study aims to explore how Management 3.0 can assist and support the development of dynamic capabilities in SMEs. To this end, several dimensions of dynamic capabilities are considered, such as the process of identifying new market opportunities, idea generation, emergence of organizational changes, and support for innovation processes and the development of new markets. This research employs a qualitative methodology by conducting four case studies with software companies located in Portugal and Brazil. It identifies a set of key elements offered by Management 3.0 for the development of dynamic capabilities. Collaborative participation, teamwork, creativity, empowerment, agility, and entrepreneurial attitude stand out as fundamental and supported elements in the Management 3.0 paradigm for SMEs to develop their dynamic capabilities.
