2012 15TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INTERACTIVE COLLABORATIVE LEARNING (ICL)

Abstract
In this paper the contributions of the ELLEIEC project for the international dimension of Life Long Learning (LLL) are described. In the framework of the Thematic Networks Programme, tools such as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), the Tuning Methodology were used in the implementation of an International Curricula Network with accreditation by two European institutions at least. Benchmarks were proposed, in order to show various tools that can be used for the establishment of dual degree programmes

Abstract
Voltage stability plays a very important role during the planning and design stages of an electric power network as well as during the system operation. In the last years in various countries worldwide, several power network collapses (blackouts) caused by voltage problems have been reported. This can be produced by a lack of sufficient reactive power reserve during heavy load or by the occurrence of severe contingencies. In this paper it is studied and analysed the influence of the load models in the dynamic voltage stability assessment of an electric power system. It was used the BPA test power network. A severe contingency situation was simulated to perform the study. The automatic voltage regulators of the generating units and the turbine speed governors were modelled as well as the transformer taps. The simulation results were obtained using the commercial transient software package EUROSTAG. Finally some conclusions that provide a better understanding of the voltage collapse phenomena are pointed out.

RECENT ADVANCES IN ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT

Abstract
Terology is a concept introduced to synthesize all the actions related to the managing of the life cycle of facilities and equipment as an enlarged maintenance perspective. Nowadays, the concept tries to give some contribution to integrate the environment in this approach. The concept has been implemented in several fields, namely for wind mills in existing works. Now, it is expanded to the problem of marine wind farms taking into account the singularities of the marine environment. In fact, if the maintenance problems in wind farms are so diverse like the reading of on-condition data, their synchronization and, after, their transmission, in marine wind farms the problems are bigger, including the distance from GSM antenna to transmit and read data remotely. Additionally, and not less important, there is the distance between the marine wind farms and the staff responsible by its maintenance. In this case, the resources and time involved to develop maintenance interventions are much more expensive when compared to similar actions in land. Finally, nevertheless this kind of energy being green it also implies some environmental problems, related to the birds and fisheries.

Abstract
In this paper it is proposed a probabilistic stead-state security assessment of an electric power system using a Monte Carlo method. This approach evaluates a probabilistic measure of the system security, instead of just a particular response to a specified contingency. Performance indices are used to assess the impact of the contingencies in the power system security. These indices allow to accurately evaluate the influence of the overloads, voltage limit violations and voltage stability problems in the power network. A probabilistic version the SECURsySTEM software package developed by the authors was applied to the IEEE 118 busbars test power system. During the simulation time, the occurrence of contingencies and the subsequent protective actions are assumed as a stochastic process. Finally, some conclusions that provide a valuable contribution to the understanding of the power system security analysis are pointed out.

Proceedings of 9th International Conference, ELEKTRO 2012

Abstract
With the development of synchronized phasor measurement technology in recent years, it gains great interest the use of PMU measurements to improve state estimation performances. In this paper, a mixed measurement (SCADA and PMU measurements) state estimator is proposed. Several measures useful for evaluating various aspects of the performance of the mixed measurement state estimator are proposed and explained. State Estimator validity, performance and characteristics of the results on IEEE 14 bus test system are presented. © 2012 IEEE.
