UNIVERSAL ACCESS IN THE INFORMATION SOCIETY

Abstract
The overall objective of this work is to review the assistive technologies that have been proposed by researchers in recent years to address the limitations in user mobility posed by visual impairment. This work presents an umbrella review. Visually impaired people often want more than just information about their location and often need to relate their current location to the features existing in the surrounding environment. Extensive research has been dedicated into building assistive systems. Assistive systems for human navigation, in general, aim to allow their users to safely and efficiently navigate in unfamiliar environments by dynamically planning the path based on the user's location, respecting the constraints posed by their special needs. Modern mobile assistive technologies are becoming more discrete and include a wide range of mobile computerized devices, including ubiquitous technologies such as mobile phones. Technology can be used to determine the user's location, his relation to the surroundings (context), generate navigation instructions and deliver all this information to the blind user.

Human-Computer Interaction - INTERACT 2019 - 17th IFIP TC 13 International Conference, Paphos, Cyprus, September 2-6, 2019, Proceedings, Part II

Abstract
The prevention of falls in older adults is an issue that can only be solved with regular exercises, sometimes with the supervision of therapists. This paper presents a game framework that uses devices such as the Wii Balance Board (WBB) to replicate fall-prevention programs, such as the Otago Exercise Programme. The objective is to increase the adherence of senior users to these exercises, while increasing their autonomy by enabling them to conduct unsupervised games. Two interactive games were developed and tested using the WBB and other available devices such as smartphones. The main contribution of this paper is the proposal of several metrics for exergames for the elderly and the combination of digital games with fall-prevention exercises and automatic balance measures based on Centre of Pressure (COP) tracking. © 2019, IFIP International Federation for Information Processing.

PROCEEDINGS OF THE 8TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DATA SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND APPLICATIONS (DATA)

Abstract
In the context of the CloudDBAppliance (CDBA) project, fault tolerance and high-availability are provided in layers: within each appliance, within a data centre and between datacentres. This paper presents the recovery mechanisms in place to fulfill the provision of high-availability within a datacentre. The recovery mechanism takes advantage of CDBA's in-middleware replication mechanism to bring failed replicas up-to-date. Along with the description of different variants of the recovery mechanism, this paper provides their comparative evaluation, focusing on the time it takes to recover a failed replica and how the recovery process impacts throughput.

COMPANION OF THE WORLD WIDE WEB CONFERENCE (WWW 2019 )

Abstract
Wikipedia is the largest on-line collaborative encyclopedia, containing information from a plethora of fields, including medicine. It has been shown that Wikipedia is one of the top visited sites by readers looking for information on this topic. The large reliance on Wikipedia for this type of information drives research towards the analysis of the quality of its articles. In this work, we evaluate and compare the quality of medicine-related articles in the English and Portuguese Wikipedia. For that we use metrics such as authority, completeness, complexity, informativeness, consistency, currency and volatility, and domain-specific measurements, in order to evaluate and compare the quality of medicine related articles in the English and Portuguese Wikipedia. We were able to conclude that the English articles score better across most metrics than the Portuguese articles.

ARTECH 2019: 9th International Conference on Digital and Interactive Arts, Braga, Portugal, October 23-25, 2019

Abstract
The main goal of the conference is to promote the interest in the current digital culture and its intersection with art and technology as an important research field, and also to create a common space for discussion and exchange of new experiences. It seeks to foster greater understanding about digital arts and culture across a wide spectrum of cultural, disciplinary, and professional practices. To this end, many scholars, teachers, researchers, artists, comput-er professionals, and others who are working within the broadly defined areas of digital arts, culture and education across the world, submitted their innovative work to the conference. © 2019 ACM.

THIRD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ENERGY ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Abstract
Landslide is a hazard that threaten the people who lives in the mountain area, it comes active especially rainy seasons and causes a large number of casualties every year. The movement of the slope is an indicator of activity of the landslide, it is helpful to capture the precursor of the activity, the monitoring of the movement of the slope is very important. However it is a difficult problem due to complex topography, cloudy and rainy weather for optical sensors, In this paper we will show the capability of up-to-date Advanced Land Observing Satellite-2 (ALOS-2) Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data in monitoring the movement of the landslide which located in south China, which can capture the fast and slow movement with different spatial and temporal baseline combination, the results shows that the L-band SAR data has its advantage in monitoring the movement of the landslides especially in the low latitude, cloudy and rainy area.
