Abstract
To understand the importance of technologies like the Internet and Learning Management Systems to Higher Education students' learning activities, this study characterizes the Internet access behaviour of Polytechnic of Porto (IPP)' students. Student's habits were obtained through a questionnaire that was answered by 10% of all IPP students. Our analysis is focused not only on the global Internet usage profile under the Polytechnic of Porto, but also on the differences between the students born before and after 1980. International trends are confirmed in this Portuguese Higher Education institution.

Abstract
In recent years, mobile learning has merged as an educational approach to decrease the limitation of learning location and adapt the teaching-learning process to all type of students. However, the large number and variety of Web-enabled devices poses challenges for Web content creators who want to automatic get the delivery context and adapt the content to mobile devices. In this paper we study several approaches to adapt the learning content to mobile phones. We present an architecture for deliver uniform m-Learning content to students in a higher School. The system development is organized in two phases: firstly enabling the educational content to mobile devices and then adapting it to all the heterogeneous mobile platforms. With this approach, Web authors will not need to create specialized pages for each kind of device, since the content is automatically transformed to adapt to any mobile device capabilities from WAP to XHTML MP-compliant devices.

EduMCA: An approach to educational mobile content adaptation

Abstract
As the variety of mobile devices connected to the Internet grows, there is a corresponding increase in the need to deliver content tailored to their heterogeneous characteristics. At the same time, we watch to the increase of eLearning in universities through the adoption of electronic platforms and standards. Not surprisingly, the concept of mLearning (Mobile Learning) appeared in recent years decreasing the limitation of learning location with the mobility of general portable devices. However, this large number and variety of Web-enabled devices poses several challenges for Web content creators who want to automatic get the delivery context and adapt the content to the client mobile devices. In this paper we analyze several approaches to defining delivery context and present an architecture for deliver uniform mLearning content to mobile devices denominated eduMCA-Educational Mobile Content Adaptation. A Multi-agent Approach for Web Adaptation

Abstract
Web growth has brought several problems to users. The large amount of information that exists nowadays in some particular Websites turns the task of finding useful information very difficult. Knowing users' visiting pattern is crucial to owners, so that they may transform or customize the Website. This problem originated the concept known as Adaptive Website: a Website that adapts itself for the purpose of improving the user's experience. This paper describes a proposal for a doctoral thesis. The main goal of this work is to follow a multi-agent approach for Web adaptation. The idea is that all knowledge administration about the Website and its users, and the use of that knowledge to adapt the site to fulfil user's needs, are made by an autonomous intelligent agent society in a negotiation environment. The complexity of the problem and the inherently distributed nature of the Web, which is an open, heterogeneous and decentralized network, are reasons that justify the multi-agent approach. It is expected that this approach enables real-time Web adaptation with a good level of benefit to the users.

From spreadsheets to relational databases and back

Abstract
This paper presents techniques and tools to transform spreadsheets into relational databases and back. A set of data refinement rules is introduced to map a tabular datatype into a relational database schema. Having expressed the transformation of the two data models as data refinements, we obtain for free the functions that migrate the data. We use well-known relational database techniques to optimize and query the data. Because data refinements define bidirectional transformations we can map such database back to an optimized spreadsheet. We have implemented the data refinement rules and we constructed HASKELL-based tools to manipulate, optimize and refactor Excel-like spreadsheets. ©2009 ACM.
