German-Portuguese Forum
9:30 to 13:00 [Central European Time (CET)]
8:30 to 12:00 [Western European Time (WET)] - relevant for participants from Portugal
The German Federal Foreign Office and the Portuguese Foreign Ministry cordially invite you to participate virtually in this year's German-Portuguese Forum. You will have the opportunity to bring in your points and questions during the live stream.
This year the forum will focus on the COVID-19-related economic slump and the objectives of the European Green Deal.
The topic is:
“How do we combine competitiveness and climate protection? A look at German-Portuguese companies and the implications for the EU Council Presidency.”
The results of the discussion are intended to contribute to the German and subsequent Portuguese EU Council Presidencies.
We strive to identify the challenges and potential of sustainable business as an engine for ongoing crisis management. Participants will exchange experiences from Portugal and Germany and develop possible courses of action.
On two panels, high-level experts from the fields of business, academia, civil society, and public institutions will:
- discuss how addressing the long-term effects of the COVID-19 crisis can be combined with key environmental and sustainability goals,
- explore how companies can stay competitive in a changing world,
- examine how to maintain social cohesion through the crisis,
- share views on decarbonisation strategies for energy systems, including promoting hydrogen as an energy carrier.
